Funtana is a picturesque small fishing and tourist town on the Adriatic coast, located between the larger tourist resorts of Porec and Vrsar.

Throughout the summer season (commencing approximately mid June) the Funtana Fisherman’s Festival is held at the marina every second Friday on a fortnightly basis.

The Festival offers live music and an array of freshly cooked seafood and other culinary delights, amidst the tranquillity and beauty of the sun slowly setting over the Adriatic. Holidaymakers and locals come from all parts of Istria to visit and enjoy this special event and dance the night away to a variety of blues, rock and modern music provided by local bands.

The Fisherman’s Festival also caters for annual events which may have a special significance to Funtana, such as celebrating the previous 40 year old local tradition of the riding of donkeys through the cobbled streets of the town.

Overall, the Festival offers a great night in this historic and quaint town, with the evening frequently being capped off by a small fireworks display.
