Visnjan is a hilltop medieval town with authentic architecture and a rich cultural heritage. It is located 13 km from Porec (which is the nearest coastal town) in the interior of western Istria and is ideal for activities such as sightseeing, hiking and biking.
Besides being known for its tranquillity, the area is also renowned for its vineyards and wine making, with Visnjan being a destination on Istria's wine roads.
The local konobas (restaurants) which offer the taste of homemade wines and traditional Istrian cuisine are highly recommended.
Visjan has its own Observatory and has been involved in many educational programs. Over the last 15 years, Visnjan has become one of the world's most prolific Observatories for the discovery of small bodies in the Solar universe.
